CAIRO – Seven Russian tourists died and others were injured in a bus crash on a mountain road in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

At least 17 people were injured in the crash late Monday, the Novosti news agency said.

Investigators said that the bus was being driven recklessly, the al-Ahram newspaper reported.

Most of those on board the bus were Russians. The Middle East News Agency said that the injured included one person each from Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine.

The injured were taken to an international hospital in the resort of Sharm el-Sheik.

Last week, a bus crash in Israel killed 24 people and left 25 injured. They were on a bus that skidded 263 feet into a ravine near Eilat, a resort on the Red Sea.
