South African Tourism Minister praises Seychelles for being a tourism model

Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture  Feb 25, 2016

Minister Hanekom, South Africa’s Tourism Minister, was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Meetings Africa exhibition currently being held in Johannesburg, attended by several tourism leaders in the MICE and Incentive Business industry, including the Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, and the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Naiken.

Mr. Derek Hanekom praised the Seychelles for being a tourism model in Africa, and he showed his appreciation for how the destination is helping to advance Africa.

The call by Minister Hanekom for “Advance Africa Together” is one which is very close to Minister St.Ange’s heart, as he seizes all occasions either at trade fairs or tourism forums, to call on Africa to work with Africa.

"We were honored to have been singled out at the official opening ceremony of this big Meetings Africa exhibition. When Minister Hanekom spoke about Seychelles, we not only appreciate it, but it reinforced the approach we have taken for the last couple of years to work in unity and in partnership with our friends and neighbors. The tag line of ‘No Island can be an Island onto itself’ is so true, and both CEO Sherin Naiken and myself said after the official opening ceremony of Meetings Africa that we do have a friend in South Africa," said Minister St.Ange.
