Clean tourist spots in India: There's an app for that

Anll Mathur, eTN India Correspondent  Feb 24, 2016

INDIA (eTN) - India has launched a 24/7 toll-free help line to promote clean tourist spots. The app will initially be available at 25 popular tourist destinations, such as the Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar, Knarak Temple, Sarnath, Hampi, Sravasti, Khajuraho, Elephanta Caves, Red Fort, and Mandu.

Tourists, both domestic and international, will be able to make complaints, suggestions, and comments about the cleanliness of the monuments.

An officer has been appointed for each of the monuments selected so that quick action can be taken when necessary. While cleanliness at the monuments is a major focus of the effort, this effort will not be confined to only these locations.

Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma launched the Swachh Paryatan App on February 22.
