MOSCOW, Russia – In the framework of the National Aviation Infrastructure Show NAIS-2016 was held the award ceremony of the 2nd National award “Air gateways of Russia”.
Kaluga international airport took the first place in the category “Best regional airport of 2015 in the category up to 0.5 million passengers”, and became “Best airport in 2015 according to journalists vote”.
The award was established by the organizing Committee of the NAIS, Federal Agency of air transport and Industry mediaportal AVIA.RU last year with the aim of forming positive image of the airports and their business reputation in the community, as well as identifying and promoting the most effectively and stably developing Russian airports.
The Expert Council of the Award includes representatives of the leading Russian airlines: Aeroflot, Utair, S7, Ural airlines; Russian air transport operators Association, leading aviation journalists and others.
Kaluga International airport is situated at the distance of 190 km from Moscow.
The airport has B class and is designed to accommodate such aircrafts as Airbus A320, Boeing 737-500, and other vessels of smaller classes. Capacity of the air terminal complex – an average of 100 passengers per hour.
In June, 2015 Kaluga airport has started regular flights.
August, 18, 2015, the airport received international status, and on September,4, 2015 Kaluga International airport received the first international flight.
From November 1, 2015 began the implementation of a corporate charter programme of european airlines in the interest of the Volkswagen group. The flights are performed 2 times a week.
At the present time there are flights from Kaluga to St. Petersburg and Sochi.
By the end of 2015 more than 10,000 passengers were carried, 518 flights and nearly 60 tons of baggage were accomplished.
