Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii, which was recently purchased by Honolulu-based developer, Peter Savio, will remain open under new management and a new name.

Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii, which was recently purchased by Honolulu-based developer, Peter Savio, will remain open under new management and a new name. As of midnight tonight, the 145-room will be renamed the Pagoda Hilo Bay Hotel and be managed by Castle Resorts & Hotels. The announcement comes on the heels of today’s State of Hawaii Board of Land and Natural Resources decision approving the transfer of the land lease under the hotel to Savio.

“For all intents and purposes, it will be business as usual at the property,” said Savio. “We don’t anticipate making any staffing changes at this time, and all reservations on the books will be honored. We also look forward to maintaining the local traditions established by Uncle Billy.”

Located on historic Banyan Drive, the island-style hotel features comfortable accommodations, an oceanfront swimming pool, general store, and meeting facilities.
