Thebe Reed Exhibitions is to deliver an ibtm africa conference for this year’s event which will take place on Friday April 8th at the Cape Town International Conference Centre.

Both exhibitors and attendees of Africa Travel Week which includes ILTM Africa, WTM Africa and ibtm africa, will have the opportunity to attend as the conference is to take place in the same venue as WTM Africa. Following customer feedback, it was decided that there was a gap in the market to deliver a high quality content driven education program focused on business events, that is open to everyone attending all the events during Africa Travel Week. It will take place on Friday April 8th.

Supported by SAACI (South African Association of Conferences & Incentives), the conference will bring together key meeting planners from some of the leading South African corporates, association and agency buyers, plus suppliers from the meetings industry. Commenting on their partnership with ibtm africa, Adriaan Liebetrau, CEO SAACI said; “Our theme for this year is ‘with knowledge, it’s possible’. We are therefore very excited to partner with ibtm africa in a new initiative to host the conference during Africa Travel Week which will bring together thought leaders of the business events sector as well as allow delegates to collaborate on many different levels in the months to come”.

Welcomed by the industry, the conference will deliver a full day program providing access to learning from leading experts as part of an exclusive invitation only networking event with the afternoon session focused solely on Africa. Speakers will include Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, Chief Convention Bureau Officer (SAT) South Africa Tourism; Adriaan Liebetrau, CEO (SAACI) Southern African Association for the Conference Industry and Rashid Tofey, CEO MCI South Africa.

The conference agenda will cover content that includes technology, future trends, procurement and consolidation, expert thought leadership, Ask the African experts plus how to leverage the benefit of Foreign Exchange and the convergence of the travel and meetings industry.

“This is an opportunity to give the Africa meetings community a new conference proposition delivering high quality content and education that blends the meetings and leisure industries under the umbrella of Africa Meetings Week.” said Carol Weaving Managing Director of Thebe Reed Exhibitions.
