Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation won the โ€œBest Promotionโ€ at the East Mediterranean Tourism and Travel (EMITT) Exhibition. Out of the 4,500 companies who participated in the Exhibition from 70 different countries, Maldives won this title at the 20th celebratory edition of EMITT. This exhibition, which leads the East Mediterranean region, is also recognized as one of the leading tourism exhibitions in the world. The Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr. Mohamed Adam received the award at EMITT, which is currently going on at Tuyap Exhibition and Convention Center in Istanbul, Turkey from January 28 till the January 31, 2016. He noted this achievement as a success as MMPRC celebrates the Visit Maldives Year this year.

To promote the Visit Maldives Year 2016 campaign that goes on for the whole of this year, Maldives promoted the VMY2016 in additional promotional spaces sold by the fair organizers. In this regard, MMPRC took up 10 rectangular footsteps, 3 large square footsteps, 12 stair steps in the fair ground and 6 flags at the outdoor entrance of the fair. Maldives is being showcased in a stand area of 60sqm, conceptually designed to expose the uniqueness with photos of Maldivian tranquil sceneries.

Turkey is the leading market of East Mediterranean Europe, holding a total of 0.8% market share. The Turkish market has been growing and showed positive growth in the past few years, and is noted as a market with good potential. In the year 2015, a total of 10,200 tourists visited Maldives from Turkey, which is an increase of 17.7% when compared to the year 2014.
