LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe recently re-certified the property in acknowledgement of its commendable sustainability programs and environmental policy. This is the fourth consecutive year that certification has been awarded.
Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Yanbu enjoys a perfect location within the charms of Al Mahar Island by the shores of the majestic Red Sea. This upscale property offers unspoiled wonders of the west coast of Saudi Arabia, with its tranquil private beach, well-appointed rooms and delectable cuisines.
In 2015, Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Yanbu reduced its energy consumption by 6.74% and water usage dropped by 13.51% compared to figures in 2014. This data was monitored and recorded by the Hotel Optimizer System audited by FARNEK Engineers. To ensure an efficient lighting system, the property is LED-based with most areas covered by motion sensors, timers and photocells. While advanced water conservation technology detect any leakages and low-flow aerators and faucets have been installed in private and public areas.
“We are taking our sustainability efforts seriously. One of our major targets in 2015 was to focus on energy-saving investments, making our hotel 90% LED-based and deploying advanced water-saving engineering that resulted in a notable reduction in our water consumption,” said General Manager, Khaled Habbab.
Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Yanbu is also taking its social initiatives to a new level by actively engaging with communities. The hotel provides direct avenues for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products such as carpets and handicrafts to guests during festive events such as the entire period of Ramadan and other related celebrations. In addition, kindergarten children as well as visitors from the Yanbu Centre for Orphans and the Madinah Centre for ladies with disabilities are welcomed at the hotel during the year whilst on field trips or social outings.
For the six years it has been in business, Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Yanbu has developed a strong framework to implement its employer, social and environmental sustainability programs. The hotel is keen to improve its strategies to adapt to the fast-paced changes and the demands for a greener island.
