Best outdoors destination and third best honeymoon destination in the world: Reunion Island just won these two key travel awards in China at the beginning of the year.

Each year, there are more than 100,000 readers that vote for their international favorite destination among several categories, and for the first time, Reunion Island has captured the coveted outdoor destination award.

Good news apparently never comes alone, as Reunion Island was also nominated for best honeymoon destination during the evening which was held under the theme โ€œInspire, Share and Explore – Discover the Best in the World,โ€ jointly organized by Qyer.com and China National Geographic.

The island was crowned as the third best honeymoon destination in the world with 27,200 votes behind the Maldives (27,748 votes) and Santorini (28,104 votes).

These awards came as the result of the marketing strategy introduced by Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) in the Chinese market for the past several years.

Since July 2014, a visa waiver was authorized for Chinese agencies which organize stays of less than 15 days on Reunion Island. Chinese travelers are under such conditions eligible for a visa waiver. This procedure is valid for all Chinese passport holders residing in China and in any part of the world.

These awards are excellent news for promoting and marketing Reunion island where the tourism industry wishes to increase the number of arrivals from China.

Such awards contribute to improving the reputation of Reunion Island in the Chinese market.
