BANGKOK, Thailand – Two spa therapists channel their energy through their other senses while feeling the flow of energy through the sense of touch, and on the healing qualities of massage. Mr. Decha Phoosiriand and Ms. Paranee Fongta, spa therapists at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok, both are blind and rely on their sensory guides to assist them in delivering warm and gentle attention to guests.

Decha and Paranee have a unique ability to understand what a guest may desire as part of the overall spa experience as they rely on smell, sound and touch, similar elements that a guest is looking for – the soothing sounds of gentle music, the relaxing smell of lemongrass and a healing touch.

Training is an important element in SPA Cenvaree, and Paranee is trained in traditional Thai massage by the Thai Medical Society, where she attained her Ministry of Public Health-approved massage therapist certification. SPA Cenvaree therapists participate in ongoing training that allows them to further develop skills in customer service, guest relations as well as improved massage techniques. These training opportunities have assisted Paranee to better identify stress points and help promote full relaxation for guests as she can sense where their tension exists. It is important for our guests at SPA Cenvaree to feel comfortable, which can be one of the most influential dynamics in capturing a return guest.

โ€œThe innate healing power of massage therapy transcends the visual. One of the reasons visually-impaired therapists provide such amazing massages is they donโ€™t have competing external stimuli. They are able to focus 100% on the tactile environment. I am honored to have Khun Decha and Khun Paranee on our team and encourage everyone to experience their special gift,โ€ shares Tara Haranhan, Group Director of Spa Operations at Central Hospitality International.
