Popular tourist spot in Pakistan jolted by earthquake

At the heart of Lahore is the Walled or Inner City, a very densely-populated area of about one square kilometer that has long been drawing in tourists. It was founded in legendary times, and has been a cultural center for over a thousand years.

The quake was felt in Northern Pakistan including Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, and other parts of Pakistan. According to initial information, the intensity of the earthquake was 6.2 on the Richter scale.

According to the USGS, the epicenter of earthquake was 22 kilometers SSW of Ashkasham, Afghanistan, and 29 kilometers (18 miles) SSW of Ishkashim, Tajikistan. The depth of earthquake was 92.4 kilometers inside the earth, and the intensity was 5.9 on the Richter scale.

This was the second earthquake that was generated from the same place in less than one month, with the last one occurring on October 26, 2015. Reports are coming from Tajikistan and Afghanistan about destruction in the mountain areas, as the depth of the earthquake was less and it was shallow. Reports suggested that Chitral Valley was again strongly hit by this earthquake.
