TAM’s international market share is almost the whole pie

SAO PAULO, Brazil – TAM announced operating data for November 2008, as disclosed by the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) today.

SAO PAULO, Brazil – TAM announced operating data for November 2008, as disclosed by the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) today.

According to ANAC, TAM registered 3.4 percent growth in domestic RPK (demand) compared to the same period last year and a 13.4 percent increase in domestic ASK (supply). In November, market demand decreased 1.0 percent and market supply increased 11.4 percent. TAM registered domestic market share (RPK) of 51.7 percent, a 2.2 p.p. increase compared to the same period in 2007. TAM’s domestic load factor was 65.8 percent, 3.3 p.p. higher than the market average of 62.5 percent.

In the international market, TAM registered 36.3 percent growth in RPK and 32.4 percent in ASK, compared to November 2007. The company attained market share of 84.7 percent, representing 11.4 p.p. growth year on year. TAM attained 70.0 percent load factor, 4.2 p.p. higher than the market average of 65.8 percent.
