Linne Freminot, “Miss Seychelles… Another World” 2015, joined other contestants in showcasing their designer dresses in a catwalk show at the Beauty Crown Grand Theatre, where the grand finale of the Miss World pageant will take place on Saturday, December 19.

The Seychellois beauty queen said the gold-and-black-colored designer gown she will wear at the final of Miss World 2015 depicts the reflection of sun in the last hour of sunshine.

“The gown is in its simplicity but adorned with accessories which make it an astonishing outfit piece,” said Linne in a telephone interview with Seychelles NATION from Sanyi island in Hainan, China.

She has expressed her most heartfelt thanks to Karine Dupouy of Kankan for having designed, produced, and sponsored her designer gown for Miss World.

Karine Dupouy’s Kankan is based at Kingsgate House.

A panel of Miss World judges along with designers from luxury brand 1436 Erdos selected the top 10 designer dresses of Miss World 2015, and they are in alphabetical order: Bosnia & Herzegovina (designed by Carmen Line), Brazil (Olga Blanc), Côte d’Ivoire (Cote d’Ivoire), Guadeloupe (Jessica Jordan), India (Monisha Jaising), Indonesia (Windy Chandra Couture), Italy (Erasmo Fiorentino), Mongolia (Tserenlkhagva Khuyag-Ochi), Puerto Rico (José Karlo), and Vietnam (Ly Qui Khanh).

“The World Fashion Designer Dress Event is a one-of-a-kind spectacle unique to Miss World, and allows contestants from all corners of the globe the unprecedented opportunity to showcase some of the finest couture pieces from their home countries and their favorite designers,” the organization said in a statement.

One of these 10 Miss World contestants will win the pageant’s fashion designer award. The designer dress event was also the first stage of the Miss World Top Model Challenge Event, which was to take place last night.

Thirty model contestants, including these 10 winners, were selected to progress to the final stages of the top model event.

During last night’s event, the 30 contestants were to showcase the latest designs created by 1436 Erdos, a luxury range of cashmere clothing.

A total of 117 contestants are competing for the coveted title at the pageant and one lucky contestant will be crowned winner by the reigning Miss World, Rolene Strauss of South Africa.

On December 8, “Miss Seychelles… Another World” 2015 Linne Freminot was ranked second in the Miss World sports challenge won by Miss Namibia Steffi van Wyk after she beat the other finalists in the categories of shuttle runs, long jump, and 100-meter sprint.

The contestants compete in 5 challenge events in the run-up to the final. Those are the beauty with a purpose (where they present their project), multimedia, sports and fitness, talent, and top model.

Miss Seychelles’ project was the setting up of a children’s playground at the Montagne Posée correctional center for children whose parents are undergoing correctional counselling. Inmates are now being allowed to meet with their kids in the open-air playground which is seen as a major therapy towards rehabilitation upon completion of sentences.

Seychelles Tourism Board (STB)Deputy Chief Executive Nathalie Didon will be leaving the country this week for China to support Linne during the final of the pageant. She will be joined by staff of STB’s regional office in China.

You can go online and vote for Linne for the People’s Choice Award.
