Sharm el Sheikh plane crash: It was a bomb! $50 million reward offered

A bomb killed all 224 passengers, mostly tourists, on the Russian airliner over Sinai, Egypt. The Russian interior minister announced security measures for the civilian population and anti-terrorism defense of sites, especially public areas.

Russia’s FSB said traces of explosives were found in the plane that was downed over Egypt, and that the crash was the result of a terrorist act.

The Russian A321 jet was blown up over Egypt by a homemade explosive device equivalent to up to 1 kg of TNT, FSB said.

President Putin said the murder of Russians in the Egypt Sinai plane crash is among the bloodiest of crimes.

Russia promises $50 million in reward for information to help catch those behind the Egypt jet bombing.

Egypt is holding two employees of Sharm el-Sheikh Airport on suspicion of assisting those who planted the explosive device on the Russian Metrojet plane on October 31, 2 security officials said, as cited by Reuters.

“Seventeen people are being held, 2 of them are suspected of helping whoever planted the bomb on the plane at Sharm al-Sheikh Airport,” one of the officials said.

A 10-year-old CTX scanner at Sharm el Sheikh airport had several breakdowns, because operators didn’t use it properly, an official at the airport said. “I have seen people unplug it to save power.”

Other added that the machine wasn’t working properly at all and only managed to scan a sample of the bags, not all of them.
