A group of 29 workers of the Seychelles Hilton Hotels have graduated after successfully completing two courses ̶ management development level one and passport to success training.

The certificate presentation ceremony was held this week at the Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort and Spa.

Present at the ceremony were the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange; Cluster Manager of the Seychelles Hilton Hotels, Claus Steiner; and representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Human Resource Development.

Passport to success is a special training for young people aged 18 years to 24 years. Hilton Worldwide has partnership with the International Youth Foundation, so that it can run the training on their behalf. Currently there are two certified trainers from Seychelles ̶ Julita Jeremie and Doreen D’Souza – both human resource and training managers for Hilton Seychelles Hotels. There are 30 modules of one hour each that the team members have to attend.

The Management Development program one is a Hilton Worldwide training that develops young people into qualified managers. Level one is mainly for potential team leaders or newly-appointed team leaders. It is a three-day training program. First they need to complete some online courses. After the three-day classroom training, they have assignment to complete before they can be graduated.

Topics covered included how to improve customer service, communication, decision making, and time management.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Steiner said it is encouraging to see employees of the Seychelles Hilton Hotels showing interest in their self and career development.

“Hilton Worldwide is doing this to encourage you to keep focusing on your professional development within Hilton and to be a role model,” he said.

Mr. Steiner added that Hilton Worldwide is proud of the graduates’ attainments and called on them to focus on their ongoing success.

Minister St.Ange described the two courses as good programs which will enable the employees of Hilton Seychelles Hotels to grow professionally, allowing them to advance in their careers.

He saluted the Hilton Seychelles Hotels for believing in their staff, and called on the graduates to apply what they have learned in their training.

Minister St.Ange used this opportunity to congratulate Hilton Seychelles Hotels for doing great this year, having now confirmed that 2015 has been their best year both in yield and in occupancy.

“This shows that Seychelles is exposing the best opportunities ever for our tourism industry to grow and for the hotels,” the Minister added.
