FICCI to host 'The Great Indian Travel Bazaar '08' in Jaipur

Jan 04, 2008

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has joined hands with Rajasthan Tourism to host its maiden B2B event titled 'The Great Indian Travel Bazaar' at the B M Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur.

The three-day event scheduled to be held from April 21-23, 2008 is slated to be inaugurated by Indian President, Pratibha Patil. TravelBiz Monitor has been appointed as the media associate for the event, which is supported by the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR) and the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA).

"The event aims to explore the worldwide potential of Indian tourism. We are contemplating to make this event an annual feature, to be held in various states," said Jyostna Suri, Chairperson, FICCI (Tourism Committee). According to Suri, there will be more than 100 international tour operators, over 35 foreign tourism boards, 500 key tourism product sellers from India, including the state tourism boards, airlines, railways, spa and hotels participating in the event.

It will feature over 200 exhibitor stalls, with opportunity for pre-fixed and on the spot buyer-seller meetings. FICCI is optimistic of receiving more than 2,000 visitors. FICCI has also planned business sessions on topics related to the travel and tourism industry.

Though the infra-structure in India is improving, a lot more needs to be done in non-traditional but highly potential tourist spots all over the country. It is also a question of 'can-do' attitude which needs to be developed.

I hope that this bazaar addresses this situation.

Best wishes.
