SOUTH ARI ATOLL, Maldives – Centara Hotels and Resorts Maldives (Centara Grand Island Resort and Spa Maldives & Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives) celebrated International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer 2015 and the 30th Anniversary of Vienna Convention by holding an underwater symposium at the depth of eight meters at a reef known as “Thoshihaa” (a nearby reef that surrounds Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives) on September 16, 2015. This is the deepest underwater gathering of this kind to ever take place in the Maldives.

The symposium pledged more emphasis and commitment by Centara Hotels & Resorts Maldives on alignment with global resolutions to reduce carbon emissions. The symposium was concluded after 10 management officials from both properties of Centara Hotels and Resorts Maldives signed a treaty to significantly reduce carbon emission in the next six years.
