The Latin American business travel market is one of the fastest growing in the world, an increase which is reflected at the 10th edition of FITUR CONGRESOS with the incorporation of two new markets: Peru and Uruguay. Spainโ€™s Meetings and Incentives Travel Workshop will be held on January 26 and 27 in IFEMAโ€™s hall 14.1, as a prelude to the opening of FITUR.

The event will bring together more than 200 international buyers from around 30 countries and will present the best of what Spain has to offer in terms of business travel. The internationalization of the Trade Fair, therefore continues, increasing at the same time the opportunities for expanding client portfolios and possibilities for doing business in an area, such as America, which is undergoing significant growth in this segment. The new buyers from Peru and Uruguay, who will be attending the workshop for the first time, will join the already extensive representation from Latin America, including representatives from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Chile.

Moreover, TURESPAร‘A, which is the event promoter, continues its scrupulous selection of international guests in order to strengthen the presence of already consolidated markets – such as Germany, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the United States. And letโ€™s not forget the importance of regions such as Asia, with representatives from Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia. and India.

As in previous editions, buyers can participate in one of the nine PRETOURS offered by FITUR CONGRESOS in collaboration with TURESPAร‘A, the Spain Convention Bureau, Turismo Madrid, and E.M. Promociรณn de Madrid. The pretours offer trips which are designed to showcase to the professionals the potential of the different Spanish provinces as business travel destinations. This year, the trips will take in Catalonia, Cantabria, Castile and Leรณn, Gijรณn-Avilรฉs, Malaga, the Basque Country, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, and Madrid.

During their stay in the capital, guests will enjoy a full program of guided visits and social events, activities which are the perfect complement to the commercial activity and one-to-one interviews, which will take place during the workshop.

Supplier companies also continue to show their loyalty to FITUR CONGRESOSโ€™09, with participation levels reaching up to 77 percent. This data confirms the eventโ€™s prestige as a privileged forum in which to promote what Spain has to offer in terms of business travel. The trade fair brings together participants from travel agencies, incentive houses, convention centers, congress halls, convention bureaus, DMC, hotels, PCOs, promotion boards, tourist boards, and transport, etc. These are companies who trust in the efficacy of the workshop, where, over two days, 4,600 meetings are held and, according to surveys carried out by BCF consultants on previous editions, 70 percent of buyers who attend the workshop have held some event in Spain as a result of their participation in the trade fair.

Together with TURESPAร‘A, the Spain Convention Bureau, Turismo Madrid, and E.M. Promociรณn de Madrid, FITUR CONGRESOS has also renewed its agreements with Trapsa, official road transport provider, and the Asociaciรณn Empresarial Hotelera de Madrid (AEHM).
