Countries and organizations suspended from UNWTO

On Thursday at the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Medellin, Colombia, UNWTO put countries on notice.

On Thursday at the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Medellin, Colombia, UNWTO put countries on notice. The membership for the following countries are subject to suspension due to prolonged non-payment of obligatory contributions to the budget of the UNWTO.

These countries are: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Central African Republic, Chad, Djibouti, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Syrian Arab Republic, Macedonia, Turkmenistan and Vanuatu.

Further UNWTO will suspend the membership of the following countries and Affiliated Members in 2016, if they will not reached an agreement with the UNWTO Secretary General on a plan for the payment of their arrears:

These countries are: Chad, Liberia, Syrian Arab Republic.

The following affiliated members will also be suspended in 2016 for the same reason:
