Flight diverted after passenger becomes “unruly”

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A Chicago-bound American Airlines flight was diverted to Indianapolis after an unruly female passenger struck another passenger and a flight attendant.

According to Indianapolis Star, the woman became “unruly” at approximately 5:30pm local time on board American Airlines Flight 1284 from Miami.

The plane landed in Indianapolis half-hour later and was boarded by airport police, who escorted the woman off the plane in flex-cuffs.

Authorities said the woman also kicked a police officer while being arrested.

The woman was identified as 25-year-old Daniela Velez-Reyes.

According to the authorities, the woman was charged with battery with injury, battery without injury, battery of a public safety officer, criminal recklessness, disorderly conduct and disruption of the operation of an aircraft.
