Moscow Domodedovo Airport fire contained

The Russian Emergency Ministry told TASS that cables had caught fire in Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport baggage department, in an area covering approximately 20 square meters.

Sixty flights have been delayed, according to the airportโ€™s online display board.
The number of delays could increase. There is information on 50 further flights coming up, both arrivals and departures.

3,000 people have been evacuated, and the fire has been contained.

Special equipment for removing smoke has been sent to the airport.

“After the smoke is removed and the building is checked, the airport will continue normal service,” the ministryโ€™s spokesperson said.
