Due to extremely heavy rain overnight caused by the tropical depression tracking north of the islands of Hawaii, the state’s tourism authority has issued a warning to tourists and residents to stay out of the coastal water at the Kapahulu Groin in Waikiki up through Point Panic at Kakaako Waterfront Park until further notice.

The heavy rains caused wastewater to be discharged at Ala Moana Boulevard and Atkinson Drive on the island of Oahu, and as a result, the City and County of Honolulu closed Ala Moana Regional Park. Both tourists and residents are being advised to avoid standing water near the park.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with the City and County of Honolulu and the State Department of Health, and provide updates as necessary.
