When it comes to unhealthy air, Beijing has one of the worst record of any capital city in the world. Only Delhi, India enjoys an even more devastating pollution rating.

The best of the best in sports will have to compete in Beijing’s capital in 2022. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic events to Beijing on Friday afternoon, after a secret ballot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Experts say this may be a chance for Beijing and the communist leadership in China to address climate control and pollution.

The Chinese capital becomes the first city in history to host both Winter and Summer Olympics, after it hosted the summer games in 2008.

Today is a day of celebration for being awarded the 2022 Olympics. People in Beijing are getting ready for a weekend to celebrate.
