DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Dubai Airport Security seized 34,032 items that are prohibited on airplanes during the first half of 2015.

Brigadier Ali Atiq Bin Lahej, Director of General Department of Airport Security at Dubai Police, said items seized included sharp objects such as knives, scissors, martial arts weapons, sports gear and screwdrivers, as well as liquids and compressed liquids.

He said all these items are not allowed on the plane and hence not allowed to be in the passengerโ€™s luggage.

โ€œWe also found electronic cigarettes and electronic incense burner, which contains gas, in a passengerโ€™s luggage. Many people do not know that they are not allowed on the plane,โ€ said Brig Bin Lahej.

He urged the public to follow airline safety regulations and not carry dangerous or prohibited items.

Dubai Airports have a sign at the entrance indicating what is allowed on the plane and what isnโ€™t, and people should consult that and remove any prohibited items and place it in a box in the airport dedicated for that purpose.
