Close to 5,000 United Airlines flights were grounded today, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 due to a computer glitch. This is the second time a computer error has grounded the airlines’ flights this year.

The computer problem caused flights worldwide to be grounded for over an hour today. It is not yet known what caused the error, however, in a statement made by the airline it said the problem did not occur due to hacking.

As is the case with cancelled airline flights, there will be a huge wave of delays for the airline and passengers to contend with throughout the day and may even continue into tomorrow as United works to reschedule.

For those passengers who cannot change their travel plans, the airline will waive the change fees.
