INDIA (eTN) – The 31st annual convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) will be held from August 20 to 23 in Indore, a vibrant industrial town in heart of the country in Madhya Pradesh.

IATO President Subhash Goyal told eTN that the city has been chosen as it will be convenient for delegates to reach, and see the city and its attractions and facilities.

It is only the second time that an IATO convention attended by over 1,000 delegates is being held in Madhya Pradesh. The earlier one was in Khajuraho.

Goyal said that he expected all operators to support the Prime Minister in efforts to promote tourism. The theme of the convention is โ€œTourism – We will change the Indian economy.โ€

Convention Chairman Pronab Sarkar of Swagatam Tours, who is secretary of IATO, said that interesting and relevant business sessions have been planned, with a focus on incentives; human resource development; and airline, hotel, and agent links; as well as showcasing the many attractions of the state.

Mahesh Sharma, Central Tourism Minister, and MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will be at the convention.

The host state will present its attractions through a cultural program and post-convention tours for the delegates.

It is estimated that visitors to destinations where the IATO convention is held will grow in the coming months and years.

IATO is one of the only leading association which holds its conventions within the country. Several others have been meeting outside the country.
