HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state’s tourism agency, will hold its annual Hawaii Tourism Conference on August 27-28, 2015 at the Hawaii Convention Center. The two-day conference is Hawaii’s premier tourism stakeholder event featuring local, national and international leading experts in their fields sharing insight on tourism issues and trends unique to Hawaii’s visitor industry.

“The Hawaii Tourism Conference allows us to provide industry partners with the latest updates, expertise and resources to help maintain the success of the visitor industry, one of the state’s lead economic drivers,” said George D. Szigeti, president and CEO of HTA. “I look forward to welcoming attendees to this year’s conference and working together to continue to strengthen our partnerships and collaborative marketing efforts.”

Attendees of the 2015 conference can look forward to hearing from experts that will provide insight on a range of topics including airlift outlook, cruise industry updates, trends in visitor accommodations, digital marketing strategies, changing traveler demographics and more. This year’s conference keynote speaker will be award-winning writer and San Francisco Chronicle travel editor, Spud Hilton, who will provide insight into the latest travel trends and share his own inspiring stories.

The HTA’s global contractors – the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, Hawaii Tourism Japan, Hawaii Tourism Oceania, Hawaii Tourism Korea, Hawaii Tourism China, Hawaii Tourism Europe, Hawaii Tourism Taiwan, Hawaii Tourism Latin America and Meet Hawaii – will also reveal their marketing plans for the upcoming year.

In addition, the HTA will recognize businesses and/or individuals in the industry and community who help to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture during the Tourism Legacy Awards luncheon. Last year, the National Park Service (NPS) was recognized for their efforts in preserving, perpetuating and promoting the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. The Tourism Legacy Awards honorees included Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site, Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Haleakala National Park, Kalaupapa National Historic Park and World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument.
