LOS ANGELES, California – Overlooking tranquil lakes and the striking Dubai Marina skyline, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers is close to Dubai’s thriving business districts and commercial free zones, just minutes from the city’s iconic attractions. The contemporary and elegant hotel is perfectly located for leisure travelers looking to explore one of the world’s most exciting cities and for business travelers needing the ideal meeting location.

Green Globe congratulates Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers on its inaugural certification and its first compliance score of 72% against the accredited criteria.

“After our first year of operation, we are proud to announce our certification by Green Globe,” said Hayden Edgtton, General Manager, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers. “The team has demonstrated great dedication and enthusiasm towards environmental conservation and social responsibility, and being awarded Green Globe certification exemplifies the hotel’s commitment to sustainability.”

One of the hotel’s key initiatives is their newly introduced eco-friendly meeting plans. Business travelers and local companies are invited to “Meet and Save the Environment with Sustainable Meeting Packages”. The architectural design of the hotel’s conference rooms delivers a wealth of natural daylight, conserving energy whilst creating a positively illuminating environment. Also, sustainable food choices are offered for menu plans, and the hotel works with local vendors for additional meeting services providing “green” paperless solutions to meet all budgets. And to ensure a low carbon event, the concierge will assist guests to take advantage of the nearby Dubai Metro, using this clean and modern option to move around the city.

The on-site verification audit carried out by Green Globe’s preferred Mid East partner FARNEK, cited a number of practices underpinning the hotel’s sustainable management. Along with reducing energy consumption and implementing renewable energy sources, the hotel carries out an effective daily waste management plan that involves sorting, distributing and recycling via eco-friendly collection agencies. FARNEK’s Hotel Optimiser Report has documented a 25% energy saving since January 2014, equivalent to a reduction of 52 tons of CO2 emissions.

In the first year since it’s opening, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers has also been able to quickly initiate a number of Corporate Social Responsibility activities in support of the local community, specifically the Algelila Medical Research Foundation and Al Noor Project for the collection and sale of handmade handicrafts.
