(TVLW) - Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada is advising against non-essential travel to Kenya and Pakistan. The warning regarding Kenya is the result of the current level of violence and instability following the presidential and parliamentary elections held on Dec. 27. Violence and riots have been reported throughout the country, particularly in Nairobi and surrounding areas, in Mombasa and in Kisumu. Violence has also erupted on the road to Jomo Kenyata International Airport. In Pakistan, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed in Rawalpindi on Dec. 27, resulting in riots and violence in several locations, mainly in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi. During the period of mourning, riots and large-scale demonstrations may take place.
