After he traveled back to Duesseldorf, Germany, he was diagnosed with the deadly MERS virus more than month after he came back and then recovered. But now, he has suffered organ failure, as a late development of this deadly virus, and passed away today in the German city of Osnabrueck.

He becomes the first patient in Germany dying after suffering from MERS. Is MERS now spreading in Germany?

With a South Korean man in Slovakia being tested for the MERS virus, the deadly disease may now spread in Europe. Authorities have taken precautions, placing the patient in isolation in Bratislava.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory illness that is new to humans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has since spread to several other countries, including the United States. Most people infected with MERS-CoV developed severe acute respiratory illness, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Many of them have died.
