Excited Doherty looks ahead to Bahrain Snooker Champion
The Kingdom of Bahrain is gearing up for the Bahrain Snooker Champion, the first, world-ranking event to take place in the Kingdom.
Many of the world’s best players, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry, Stephen Maguire, and Shaun Murphy are set to play in the tournament, which runs from November 8 to 15.
Former World Champion Ken Doherty is particularly looking forward to the event. “I’m really excited about it,” said the Irishman, who lifted the famous world trophy in 1997.
“I have met a few of the players from Bahrain while practicing at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. I didn’t realize until I spoke to them how much people love snooker in the Middle East.
“This should be a great tournament, and I hope it will help the development of snooker in the region. Snooker is a world game after all. Most of our tournaments are in the UK, so it’s great to have representation in a new territory.”
Tickets can be bought online at www.boxofficeme.com or in person from November 1 from Hall Two at the venue, the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Manama, with prices starting at just 3 Bahrain Dinars.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly, so fans wanting to watch this spectacular show of snooker are advised to book their seats early.
