The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with Thai Airways International (THAI) is launching the second “Thai Championship” competition dedicated to travel agents in Italy between now and October 31, 2015.

The second Thai Championship calls on Italian travel agents to take part in the competition selling the biggest number of trips to Thailand. The Championship is open to all agents already a “fan” of the TAT Rome Office’s Facebook page and to all those who click on the “Like” button for the first time.

Registration is open from now until 31 October, 2015. To participate, a candidate must register by accepting the requests of the Facebook Connect app and completing the form with the name of the travel agency and VAT.

After registration, each user will have to create and publish a short promotional slogan incorporating the word “Thailand” that will appeal to their target audiences and result in tour bookings to Thailand. In turn, users will earn points for all THAI tickets issued by 31 October, 2015 for the travel period between 1 May and 31 December, 2015.

User will earn one point for each THAI economy class ticket, two points for each THAI business class ticket, and three points for a combined THAI ticket and a stay in one of the Kata Thani Resorts’ properties.

There are two different rankings for the Championship. The scores ranking is judged on the basis of individual merit and points collected. The teams ranking is for all agents belonging to the same agency who act as a team – their scores will be added together.

Every month, the agent who has the highest score will receive a gift: a trolley, a briefcase or a THAI airplane model. Based on their scores, only 20 agents will enter the final phase of the competition. Among these, 10 winners will participate in a trip to Thailand in March 2016.

Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas said, “This second edition of the Thai Championship is built on the success of the first season that yielded great result in the Italian market. But this year is particularly special as TAT is promoting the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign, which will certainly offer Italian travel agents more reasons to promote Thailand based on the seven unique aspects of Thainess as well as the newly introduced 12 lesser known destinations that are rich in culture and traditions.”

In 2014, Thailand welcomed a total 220,017 Italian travellers, representing a 6.19 per cent over 2013.
