BERLIN - The travel community dodo.com is giving away a travel grant worth US$5,000. The grant will be used to assist dodo.com member Anthony Asael and his non-profit-organization “Art in All of Us.” Anthony and his organization aim to connect children all over the world through art. Along the way, they hope to promote multicultural awareness and tolerance.

The idea of the travel grant was to support the traveler with the most extraordinary travel plans. Qualifications may have included, but were not limited to, such things as unique routes, bizarre modes of transportation, and fascinating destinations ― far away from mass tourism.

The following three conditions were to be met for aspiring participants to be considered for the grant:

- The planned route would run through destinations far away from mass tourism and would provide insight into different cultures and ways of life.
- The grant holder would be willing/able to report his/her adventures to the dodo.com community on a regular basis.
- The reporting would consist of interesting information that provides an additional benefit to the members of the community.

The creativity demonstrated by the applicants was exceptional. Itineraries ranged from a bicycle tour through China to a journey around the world volunteering. The decision was a difficult one.

In the end, dodo.com decided to support Anthony Asael and his initiative “Art in All of Us” (www.artinallofus.org). In collaboration with his organization, Anthony has been traveling around the world for three years. His goal is to travel to all 192 UNO-listed countries and connect children through the language of art. The program incorporates drawing, poetry, and photography activities. Anthony and his organization work to inspire children artistically and encourage intercultural communication.

In the three years that he has been traveling, Anthony has already visited 150 countries.

Our hope is that the grant will help facilitate him and his organization's goal to visit all 192 UNO-listed countries.
