INDIA (eTN) – In a significant development on the tourism and transport front, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous and important state, will be linked with New Delhi by a new AC double-decker express train service beginning May 1, 2015.

The train will operate every Friday and Sunday, from the Anand Vihar station in Delhi to Lucknow. It will have AC chair car seating and stop at three stations enroute – Ghaziabad, Moradabad, and Bareilly.

The inaugural train was flagged as of today, April 26, by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The new double-decker train service assumes added significance, as a heritage arch is being promoted for tourism to link Lucknow, Agra, and Varanasi.
