In a training session that was held on April 23, 2015 at the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, Group Managing Director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd., Mr. Edward Liu, shared five key points on what to do as exhibitors and how to excel in exhibitions.

The first point that Mr. Liu covered was on the importance of checking the background of not just the exhibition, but also the organizers. To help illustrate his point, Mr. Liu raised an example using the inaugural China Xiโ€™an Silk Road International Tourism Expo in 2014, and its organizer, Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd.

The second point was on the importance of having a well-planned promotional mix. Going more in-depth, Mr. Liu explained that exhibitors must be able to know what their four Ps are: Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Under products, Mr. Liu urged exhibitors to highlight the unique features about their products. The prices of the products must then be attractive, yet competitive. Next, Mr. Liu urged exhibitors to understand the demographics and psychographics of the attendees of the exhibition in order to provide them with the best deals and packages. Lastly, the Group Managing Director shared with exhibitors different ways that they can publicize their presence and products at an exhibition.

Budgeting is also an important aspect that exhibitors should not miss out on, as pointed out by Mr Liu. Under this section, Mr. Liu listed out five key costs that exhibitors should take note of: booth cost, logistical/freight cost, manpower cost, promotional cost and miscellaneous cost.

Moving on, Mr. Liu covered booth designs. In this section, the Group Managing Director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd. presented to the audience examples of booth designs, as well as a brief explanation on how booth designs play a crucial role in visitor attraction, as well as crowd management.

His last point in the sharing session was on manpower, specifically the duties of staff at exhibitions. Under this section, Mr. Liu provided advice on how staff should manage the exhibition booths, approach customers, explain promotions to them, and close the sales.

Before ending his sharing session, Mr. Liu shared with the audience more information on the upcoming China Xiโ€™an Silk Road International Tourism Expo 2015, to be held from September 11-13, 2015 at the Xiโ€™an Qujiang International Conference and Exhibition Centre.

The training session was opened by Mr. Shao Xiyuan, Deputy Director General of Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, and attended by close to 60 representatives from various travel agencies, hotels, and destination sites.
