The new American landmarks are all about being green

By eTN Staff Writer | Oct 24, 2008

NEW YORK, NY – The new American landmarks, all of which are changing the traveler’s landscape with modern, environmentally-tuned design, have been named by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Nancy Novogrod, editor-in-chief of Travel + Leisure, said, “Green design has really come into its own during the past few years, not only for its high-tech, energy-efficient sustainability, but also, just as important, as an aesthetic ideal - green is not only good for the planet, but can be beautiful, too. The 10 American landmarks we celebrate in this story deserve recognition for their good looks and the influential statements they make about sustainable design.”

Travel + Leisure’s 10 New American Landmarks:

- California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco
- Nationals Park, Washington, DC
- Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns Restaurant, Pocantico Hills, New York
