It has now been confirmed that for the fifth edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria, Sofia Panayiotaki will be the co-hosting mistress of ceremony for the carnival’s grand opening at the People’s Stadium on Friday, April 24.
According to the Seychelles Tourism Board Chief Executive, Sherin Naiken, Sofia is the right international candidate for the job who will be guiding the opening ceremony alongside Seychelles’ very own MC whose name will be made public soon.
“This accomplished, bilingual Director and Head of Public Relations and Communications of UK-based PRMEDIACO, has helped bring in some big international press representatives for this carnival. Her presence in the opening ceremony will help further create visibility for Seychelles, and we are grateful to her for accepting the important role of mistress of ceremony,” said Chief Executive Naiken.
Sofia is also feeling excited to be part of the fifth edition of the Seychelles which unites countries from all over the world.
“Being chosen as the mistress of ceremony for the Seychelles International Carnival Victoria is such a humbling honor. I have always loved the destination, and for the last four years I have watched the colorful event with wonder and admired the way in which its brings the world together, so to be able to have such an important role during the fifth anniversary celebrations is a proud moment,” said Sofia in a press communiqué.
Entrepreneurship, travel, and an intrinsic inquisitive nature have been the pillars of Sofia’s extensive career history.
Her extensive portfolio includes years working as a top broadcasting journalist breaking news stories in both Japan and Greece. She also set up her own production company using her unrivaled knowledge in the industry.
Working with some of the biggest media outlets in the world – REUTERS, BBC, NHK to name a few – Sofia juggled working both in front of and behind the camera for the course of a decade and still to this day is the director of her own production company.
As well as her media background, she chaired the European Travel Commission in Asia and more recently was the director of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Japan and the UK.
With five languages in the bank (English, Greek, Japanese, French, and Italian) and having worked all across the world, Sofia is a regular speaker at travel trade exhibitions, international conferences, and meetings organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
She is now the brains behind PR MEDIACO and has led numerous successful campaigns, building up an impressive client base with contacts across the world.
With the multitude of media houses, along with freelance journalists, covering the Seychelles carnival festivities, the organizers have left the responsibility of launching and creating excitement for the opening ceremony of the 2015 carnival in a professional’s hands.
