The countries making up the Indian Ocean islands are rallying for the carnival around the equator. After its absence last year, Mauritius will now join Reunion Island, Madagascar, and the over 20 other international delegations that will come down to celebrate the carnivalโ€™s milestone fifth anniversary.

Mauritian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and External Communications, Xavier-Luc Duval, will be present as the Guest of Honor for carnival celebrations along with a strong delegation that will participate in the parade under the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) umbrella.

This confirmation came at a meeting between Mr. Duval and Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, at the ITB Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin, in March.

In the 2013 edition, Mauritius captured the crowdโ€™s attention with their sea life-themed participation, and the beautiful Mauritian ladies paraded in sea motif carnival outfits accompanied by a marching band. Their colorful display capturing the joyful Mauritian spirit helped them clinch the Tom Bowers silver sculpted Carnaval International de Victoria trophy.

For the throng of people coming down for the carnival parade on April 25, they will get a taste of the rhythmic flavors that make up Mauritian music and dance, which is very similar to that aspect of the Seychellois culture.

Some popular names making up the significant Mauritian delegation are singer Jean-Christophe Lomelette and musician Philippe Thomas and they will surely be presenting a delightful fusion of sounds ranging from jazz to sega.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) .
