MADRID, Spain – Three Spanish speleologists have been reported missing in a mountainous area of Morocco, El Mundo reported Friday citing unnamed diplomatic sources.

According to the newspaperโ€™s sources, currently rescue helicopters are searching for the tourists over the area between the cities of Marrakesh and Uarzazate, but thick fog is impeding the search.

The lost speleologists parted from their group of nine tourists from Seville last Sunday, intending to rejoin it on Tuesday. After they failed to appear at the agreed location, at about 03:00 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT) on Wednesday, the groupโ€™s leader contacted the local police and Spanish Consulate in Casablanca.
