MCLEAN, VA – Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of two iconic Jamaican properties to Curio – A Collection by Hilton, a global brand of distinctive upper upscale and luxury hotels, hand-picked for travelers who seek local discovery and authentic experiences.

Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa Runaway Bay, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, and Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa Ocho Rios, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, will become two of the latest Curio properties – and the first in the Caribbean – when they join the collection in 2015.

Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, announced the signings at a joint press conference yesterday with the Honorable Dr. Kenneth Wykeham McNeill, minister of tourism and entertainment for Jamaica, Paul Pennicook, director of tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board, and representatives from the hotel ownership and management companies, Sagicor and Aimbridge Hospitality, at the Montego Bay Convention Center.

“Surrounded by the natural beauty of Dunn’s River Falls and Mystic Mountain, the Jewel properties have long-been synonymous with the best of Jamaica’s nature and culture,” said Dianna Vaughan, global head of Curio – A Collection by Hilton. “It’s fitting that our first Curio properties in the region are in Jamaica, which could be considered the curio of the Caribbean with its mix of pristine beaches, majestic mountains, distinct culture and inimitable music that sets it apart from its closest neighbors.”

“It brings us great pleasure to welcome this young global brand to our shores which signals the continued confidence in our product offerings,” said the Hon. Dr. Kenneth Wykeham McNeill, minister of tourism and entertainment. “As a destination, we are eager to attract more unique brands, such as Curio – A Collection by Hilton, thereby increasing the number of upscale travelers looking for an unparalleled level of hospitality and distinctive experience.”

Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa Ocho Rios, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, is a premium Jamaican all-inclusive, adult-only resort located just moments from one of Jamaica’s top attractions – spectacular Dunn’s River Falls. The resort boasts multiple dining options at The Jewel Dunn’s River ranging from the formal Platinum restaurant to the casual Aquamarina Beach Bar & Grill, where even shoes are optional. Guests can also choose from a selection of bars, two of which allow guests to remain within the pool while sipping cocktails, and a magical Emerald Tree Lounge that literally lights up each night. Three buildings feature garden, mountain and ocean view rooms, with suites available as well as Concierge and Butler Services.

Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa Runaway Bay, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, is a completely redesigned, adult-only oceanfront retreat on Jamaica’s north coast featuring world-class services centered on an all-inclusive health, spa and fitness theme. Guests can relax in one of 210 rooms or 15 junior suites that have been completely reimagined with luxurious bedding, modern furniture, deluxe bathrooms and state-of-the-art technology. Private balconies and patios have been added to guest rooms to allow the natural sunlight and beauty of the surrounding area to spill in. Luxurious accommodations range from guest rooms to butler-service suites.

Aimbridge Hospitality president and CEO Dave Johnson announced, “The partnership of two unique brands, Jewel Resorts in Jamaica managed by Aimbridge Hospitality and Curio – A Collection by Hilton, is a perfect blend of distinctive resorts with their own individuality, accompanied by all the benefits enjoyed by Hilton guests worldwide. This footprint for these Caribbean resorts is brand defining, and will be accompanied by the award-winning guest service levels and signature programming that Jewel Resorts have benchmarked.”

“Tourism is very important to the Jamaican economy through the goods it purchases locally and the thousands of persons it employs,” said Richard O. Byles, president and CEO, Sagicor Group Jamaica & chairman of Sagicor X Fund. “Jamaica Sagicor is very pleased that our hotel properties, Jewel Dunn’s River and Jewel Paradise Cove, will be further enhanced as they are branded as Curio – A Collection by Hilton, further enriching Jamaica’s tourism product.”

As members of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, all Curio hotels, including the newly signed Jewel resorts, will participate in Hilton HHonors, the only hotel loyalty program that allows members to earn points and miles on the same stay and no blackout dates on reward stays.
