ATLANTA, GA – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced the signing of a 251-room Crowne Plaza hotel in the heart of New York City.

ATLANTA, GA – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced the signing of a 251-room Crowne Plaza hotel in the heart of New York City. The new development aligns with IHG’s strategy to grow the Crowne Plaza brand by further strengthening its presence in top-tier business epicenters and priority markets across the Americas. The property is scheduled to open in 2017, and IHG will manage on behalf of the owner, LRR Holdings, LLC.

Lance Steinberg and Frank Chan are the majority shareholders of LRR Holdings, LLC. They also own two EVENยฎ Hotel properties โ€“ IHG’s new wellness-focused brand โ€“ that are currently under construction in New York with the first to open this year on 35th Street.

The Crowne Plaza hotel on 36th Street will offer a range of brand amenities and services that make it easy for business travelers to stay productive in the areas that matter most to them. The Crowne Plaza brand’s “Always On” enhancements focus on connectivity, productivity and wellness, such as providing guests with single Internet sign-on, reliable and free Wi-Fi; easy access to power outlets and charging devices in the guest rooms; and an Energy Essentials Wellness Station in the hotel lobby with healthy snacks and drinks to help them stay energized and balanced to perform at their best. The new build property will also feature an 80-foot glass atrium at the entrance, flexible meeting space, a state-of-the-art fitness facility and standalone restaurant and bar concept.

Conveniently situated in Manhattan’s Garment District and next to Times Square South, the hotel is located in the heart of the neighborhood’s many heralded rooftop bars and lounges and fashion boutiques โ€“ making it easy for savvy business travelers to socialize and maximize their personal time while on the road.

IHG continues to strengthen the Crowne Plaza estate in North America with more than 55 percent of properties either newly opened or renovated in the last four years. The Crowne Plaza brand is the fourth largest upscale, full-service hotel brand in the world, and IHG is continuing the brand’s growth momentum through new signings in prime U.S. markets such as San Diego and with new openings in 2015, including the Crowne Plaza-Memphis East, Crowne Plaza-Pittsburgh Westโ€“Green Tree and Crowne Plaza-Stamford. Additionally, guests staying at Crowne Plaza hotels in Seattle, Los Angeles, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greenville, South Carolina, can expect an enhanced experience following the significant renovations at these properties.

IHG currently has 25 hotels open in the New York City market across seven of its brands, including two Crowne Plaza hotels in Times Square and at the JFK Airport, and another 16 hotels in the pipeline. The iconic InterContinental New York Barclay hotel is currently under renovation and will re-open later this year.
