LOS ANGELES, California – The Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport in Germany is the perfect location for business travelers and guests alike.

LOS ANGELES, California – The Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport in Germany is the perfect location for business travelers and guests alike. The 4-star property in the historic city of Nuremberg is not only situated next to Nuremberg Airport but also offers the convenience of the local metro station at its front door.

Green Globe congratulates Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport on its re-certification for the third year and its magnificent compliance score of 95%.

General Manager Alwin Burkhart at Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport said, “Doing commercial business in a sustainable way really makes sense and it is much easier to do than people think.

“A common sense approach has been upheld by the management team of the Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport since the latest re-certification by Green Globe this year. After the implementation of the program all employees have had several training sessions online and in practice. This helped change their behavior and now it is quite normal to think sustainably and without any effort.”

Energy, water and waste reduction targets are regularly reviewed and strategic management plans implemented. The hotel has installed water saving showerheads and faucets, dual flush toilets and taps with motion sensors in guest bathrooms to conserve water. And to reduce energy and water usage, guests staying longer than one night are invited to participate in environmental initiatives by reusing towels and only changing bed linen every third day.

To lower the hotel’s impact on the environment the separation of waste into recyclable and non-recyclable items is conducted by staff and guests. Furthermore, biodegradable cleaning products are preferred and guests provided with eco-friendly shampoos and soap. And to reduce wastage public toilets and the kitchens are equipped with soap dispensers rather than individually packaged disposable items.

Mr. Burkhart added, “Our programs to save electric power, heating energy and water resources also helped us to make our business more efficient and save money. Customers and guests love our programs, instead of foregoing their usual comforts it gives them the opportunity to actively support sustainability as much as they like.”

Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg-Airport also offers the choice of 11 conference and seminar rooms for Green Meetings. Sustainable initiatives include panoramic windows that provide natural daylight whilst participants receive sustainable stationary such as biodegradable pens. In addition, dishes prepared with seasonal and regional products are available accompanied by Mövenpick Fair Trade coffee. Business travelers are also encouraged to reduce carbon emissions by travelling with German Rail (Deutsche Bahn) or offsetting their trip with Atmosfair.
