Tens of thousands of Americans to visit Republic Of Congo for 2015 All-Africa Games

NEW YORK, NY – Americans by the thousands will be joining others from around the world at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, this coming September. The event is highly significant since it marks the 50th Anniversary of what is considered a rival to the World Olympics themselves. The All-Africa Games, first held in 1965, are returning to the location where they were first held – Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo. The Games are held every four years, and were granted official recognition as a Continental multi-sport event by the International Olympic Committee.

H.E. Denis Sassou-Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo has done an excellent job in preparing the nation for the games in which the world will soon spotlight. Hundreds of television, newspapers and radio stations will feature the country and its people for the first time.

Visitors will first be greeted, and surely impressed, by the dazzling new airport in Brazzaville. Ghana, Kenya and Congo all competed to host the All-Africa Games, but in 2011, the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa, the ruling body in such matters, awarded the rights to Brazzaville. Construction crews in Brazzaville immediately got to work on the new airport. They built a 3,300 m long runway, a new terminal with three air bridges; a second module for a new terminal has most recently been completed. In total, the Republic of Congo spent $160 million to upgrade the airport.

But all eyes will be on the Games this September, as well as on Brazzaville itself. New hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues have been specially built for the super event. Tourists will be sure to be impressed by the variety of available foods, music, art and nightlife in Brazzaville.
