An article entitled “Mauritius will be present at celebrations of the cultures of the world in the Seychelles” where they analyzed the importance of this Indian Ocean event that has been an effective tool to help raise the visibility of the region and keeping the islands of the Indian Ocean as relevant tourism destinations, was published by Le Mauricien newspaper of Mauritius this week.

It was Jean-Clement Cangy, the much-respected Mauritian journalist who wrote this article that referred to the meeting between Mr. Xavier-Luc Duval, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius, and Minister Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles that was held at the recent ITB Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin.

Mr. Cangy sees the event as a catalyst for the tourism industry for the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands that comprises the Seychelles itself, Mauritius, Reunion Island, Madagascar, Comoros, Mayotte, and the Maldives.

Mauritius had been absent from the Carnival in Seychelles, and Mr. Jean-Clement Cangy commends the decision of Deputy Prime Minister Duval to register for a cultural delegation from Mauritius to be present at the 2015 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria in the Seychelles. This Indian Ocean Carnival is registered as the Seychelles event that appears on the annual Vanilla Islands calendar of events.
