Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is celebrating its fifth anniversary of service to Japan.

The Abu Dhabi-based airline marked this significant milestone with VIP cocktail receptions in Tokyo and Nagoya attended by key industry clients and airline partners.

Etihad Airwaysโ€™ Vice President Asia Pacific North and the Indian Subcontinent, Craig Thomas, said the airline was delighted to celebrate the auspicious occasion with the industry partners who had contributed to its success in Japan.

โ€œWe owe a debt of gratitude to our travel trade partners for the strong support they have given Etihad Airways since it commenced services to Nagoya and Tokyo five years ago.

โ€œThe route has gone from strength to strength in that time, and we are delighted to have carried more than 732,000 guests and thousands of tonnes of cargo to and from Japan since the launch.

โ€œEtihad Airways is deeply committed to the Japanese market and to ensuring that our industry partners share in our continuing success.โ€

Etihad Airways entered the Japanese market on 2 February 2010 with five weekly flights between Nagoya and Abu Dhabi, via Beijing. The Nagoya route became a daily operation on 30 March 2014.

Non-stop services to the airlineโ€™s second Japanese gateway Tokyo (Narita) commenced on 28 March 2010 with a schedule of five flights weekly and increased to a daily on 31 March 2013.

To cater to the needs of its Japanese guests, Etihad Airways offers a range of bespoke guest services including Japanese-speaking cabin crew, Japanese language entertainment programs and special inflight cuisine with a kaiseki option in First and Business Class.
