BERLIN, Germany – Zambia and Zimbabwe will this evening re-launch the KAZA UNIVISA as the ITB Tourism Fair opens in the German Capital- Berlin. The event will also be used to promote Zambia as a Yellow Fever free country following the resent endorsement by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the subsequent removal of the Yellow Fever vaccination requirement by South Africa.

Zambia’s Tourism Minister Jean Kapata and her counterpart Dr. Engineer Walter Mzembi (the Zimbabwean Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry) will officiate at the Media Launch to be held at the Zambian Stand.

The Kavango Zambezi Trans-frontier Conservation Area (KAZA) UNIVISA pilot project was first launched on 28th November last year at the Victoria Falls Bridge by the respective Ministers of Home Affairs for Zambia and Zimbabwe as well as the Ministers of Tourism.

Already hailed as a commendable initiative by the international travelling public, the KAZA UNIVISA enables tourists to Zambia and Zimbabwe to use only one visa to traverse the two neighboring countries.

The inventifulness to have a second launch of the KAZA UNIVISA at ITB- Berlin allows Zambia and Zimbabwe to tap into the world’s largest tourism trade fair and thus reach millions of would-be travelers with the message.

Held every year at MESSE-BERLIN, ITB has earned itself a name as the leading platform for almost all segments and players in the tourism industry: destinations, tour operators, booking systems, carriers, hotels as well as Tourism Boards from around the world.

The Zambia Tourism Board considers ITB as an important marketing platform not only for the opportunity it provides to lure the high spending German travelers but also for the networking opportunities to reach other important source markets through parallel meetings, conferences and access to international Media.

This year Zambia is represented by the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) and the Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (HTTI), on the Government side while the Private Sector is represented by the award winning Norman Carr Safaris of South Luangwa National Park, VOYAGERS, Track and Trail, Wild Dogs Safaris, and Kafue Bush Camps.

The Zambia Tourism Board in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and Arts and the Zambian Mission in Berlin, is hosting the Zambian delegation at the event.

ITB Berlin runs from 4th to the 8th of March, 2011
