INDIA (eTN) – The College of Vocational Studies (CVS), University of Delhi, on February 16, organized a meeting of travel agents and operators and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to take forward its innovation project to integrate tour enterprises with the NGOs in Delhi and the national capital region.

The CVS has been awarded this project by the University of Delhi, and its students and faculty have been involved in research to see how the integration can be a win-win situation for all the stakeholders.

Kumar Ashutosh, who is leading the initiative, said at the interaction that such projects and networking are being done in several countries, but for India, this is the first time that the tour operators and NGOs are sought to be linked by memorandum of understandings so that benefits can be derived.

Both operators and the various NGOs felt that the tourists would also gain from this, as they would get new options to do things apart from the normal tours.

Avenues for raising funds and utilizing them well could be multiplied, but caution must be exercised to see that fake and dubious elements stay away from such ventures, it was felt.

The project will be completed based on points raised at the meeting, and research of students, guided by the faculty.
