His Majesty King Felipe VI, King of Spain, accompanied by Her Majesty, Queen Letizia, Queen Consort of Spain, made it a point to visit the 2015 FITUR Tourism Trade Fair and meet the tourism ministers present at this year’s FITUR.

Tourism is set to continue its rapid upwards trend and will continue to boost economic growth and reduce poverty in many countries of the Community of Nations. It is also expected that the number of people living off the tourism industry will also continue to increase.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and one of the ministers who had the honor of meeting His Majesty King Felipe VI, King of Spain, and Her Majesty, Queen Letizia, Queen Consort of Spain, said that the recognition of the tourism industry and tourism-related events by heads of countries shows the importance being shown to the tourism industry.

“The world is united more than ever before under the umbrella of the UNWTO [UN World Tourism Organization] to work together to consolidate tourism as a vital industry able to reduce poverty as it boosts the world economies. Spain showed its own commitment for the industry when the King and Queen of Spain, their Prime Minister, their Minister responsible for Tourism, and their Secretary of State responsible for Tourism all visited FITUR 2015 and made time to meet each and every tourism minister coming from the four corners of the world to show their commitment for tourism,” said Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture.
