GENEVA – The historical InterContinental Genève recognizes its Green Globe Certification as a major achievement and an on-going commitment to the planet. This certification demonstrates the hotel’s vision for both short and long term sustainability on behalf of its community, guests and employees.

“In our esteemed hotel the environmental values are in our minds daily and part of our core values. It is a priority of our hotel, the InterContinental brand, and the city to be proactive in sustainable development. It should not be forgotten that Geneva is among the 9 European cities in the Top 25 Eco Cities worldwide. Our aim is to deliver prosperity while contributing socially and environmentally,” said InterContinental Genève General Manager, Jurgen Baumhoff.

All departments at the hotel are committed and involved in reducing the property’s carbon footprint. To lower the property’s total emissions, an innovative system is employed which uses the water of Lake Geneva for both cooling and heating the hotel facilities. InterContinental Genève is the only business of its kind within the city to use this energy saving technology. In addition the energy the hotel does use is generated from hydroelectric stations making the property a leader in pursuing carbon neutrality.
