LOS ANGELES, California – The five-star modern, chic and contemporary Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is located in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residence and is only a short walk away from The Beach mall that features restaurants, shops and the UAE’s first outdoor cinema.

The hotel recently received its Green Globe certification for the fourth year running and is focused on improving its sustainability performance.

Mr. Horst Walther-Jones the General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach said, “We are delighted that we have been re-certified by Green Globe. I am very proud to say that Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is dedicated to environmentally sustainable tourism and this has been demonstrated through a variety of initiatives.

“Our business partners and employees can really make a difference by reducing the hotel’s environmental impact and this is reflected in the concerns we all have in making sure we operate at the highest environmental standards possible,” added GM Horst Walther-Jones.

Green Globe’s Middle East Partner FARNEK confirmed Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach’s certification with a comprehensive audit of all its hotel departments. In addition, the property uses the Hotel Optimizer management system designed by FARNEK to record and monitor all energy and water consumption as well as benchmark waste quantities. The Hotel Optimizer allows comparisons to be made from year to year, and data indicates that energy consumption has decreased by 66% compared against levels taken in 2011.

Current efficient lighting systems include the installation of motion sensors in corridors and toilets, and timers for outdoor areas and parking lots. As part of its sustainable management plan, the hotel has commenced replacing lighting with energy efficient LED’s to reduce electricity usage.

Low flow showerheads and faucets plus dual flush toilet systems and motion sensors are some of the water saving devices utilized throughout the hotel to reduce water consumption. Staff also receive training regarding the hotel’s sustainable goals and it is mandatory that any water leakages are reported and fixed to prevent water wastage.

In accordance with the hotel’s environmental responsibility, amenity dispensers are used in guest and public bathrooms and filled with eco-friendly bio-degradable products. In addition, public transportation such as Metro and Tram travel are recommended by Concierge services.

Social initiatives include supporting both businesses and charity groups in the community. For example, during restaurant refurbishments last year, locally produced tiles manufactured by RAK were preferred and walls were built of tempur wood. In addition, unused amenities such as soap, dental kits and shaving kits were donated to charity.
